Caregiver Support

Did you know that 75% of American adults will spend time caring for an elder relative?

Caring for your senior loved one is both a privilege and an enormous responsibility. The Council on Aging can help you access the services you need, get the respite care you deserve, and improve the quality of life that you spend with your loved one.

Here for You and Your Loved One

The Council on Aging offers a wide array of resources for caregivers:

Respite care for your loved one in The Club
Counseling services from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Free caregiver support groups
Free caregiver training and monthly seminars on caregiving topics
Care managers who can help you make the right choices for your senior loved one, and manage any in-home assistance that is needed

Caregiver Respite

The Club, our adult day program is an excellent option for respite care. Our clients benefit from socialization, therapy and enhanced care, while their loved ones get a much-needed break. The Club's support services are designed to give caregivers vital respite time, with the peace of mind of knowing that their loved ones are in the very best of hands.

Caregiver Support Groups

The Council on Aging of Martin County hosts three free monthly caregiver support groups where you can share tips, resources, and experiences with other caregivers, under the direction of a licensed clinical social worker with in-depth experience in elder care issues.

Virtual Support Groups - ZOOM Meetings

10:30 a.m. - Noon

Open to all caregivers.

3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
For adult children caring for an aging relative.

We welcome ALL family caregivers to join us on Zoom! Martin County or Florida residency is NOT required. Join us virtually from anywhere in the world!

In-Person Support Groups - At the Kane Center

Sessions are held the fourth Thursday of each month.

9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Open to all caregivers.

Advances in Medicine: Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease streamed live from the Kane Center on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

Featuring expertise from Arif Dalvi, MD, MBA and Dr. Paayal Patel, MD. Dr. Dalvi speaks on the topic: "Advances in Medical and Surgical Treatment of Parkinson's Disease." Dr. Dalvi is the Director of the Memory and Movement Disorders Program at the Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Patel joins us from Brain Matters Research, one of the nation's premier Alzheimer's disease research facility's. Dr. Patel will speak on the topic "Advancing the Science in Alzheimer's Disease."
