Strengthen Your Brain Health Today
It is never too early to get started on a brain health regimen. Just like other parts of our bodies, our brains can be strengthened.
The Memory Enhancement Center offers structured, research-based curriculum designed for individuals with early memory loss or suspected memory impairments. It uses scientific findings to develop a comprehensive series of supportive modalities such as brain integration, mental agility exercises, education and physical activities.
Why This Approach Is Effective
- It makes use of scientific findings
- It provides important socialization
- It addresses individuals holistically
Our Core Curriculum
The program is centered around the Integrative Memory Enhancement Program (IMEP), an effective, proactive, research-based approach to early memory loss.
The curriculum offered at the Memory Enhancement Center puts scientific findings to use. It includes an array of exercises and interventions designed to activate and stimulate a variety of mental activities. Through this hands-on approach, participant gain tools and healthy habits that promote optimal brain function, improve health and wellness, and reduce overall stress.
This program is ideal for those with mild cognitive impairment or mild memory loss as a result of stroke, illness or injury.
Learn more about Cognitive Reserve
The brain possesses an important quality called “plasticity” or “neuroplasticity,” which means it has a remarkable ability to compensate for damages or illness by creating new neural connections and rewiring existing ones. Brain experts describe this storehouse of mental compensation abilities as cognitive reserve. The brain is essentially a learning machine. Like a muscle, it weakens without use and is strengthened through exercise. Improving the brain with new and different challenges helps keep it robust and healthy—and builds the all-important cognitive reserve. Scientists have found that high cognitive reserve can stave off some of the effects of brain degeneration, because the brain has been trained to be nimble enough to work around physical barriers. Keeping your brain active, engaged and curious—through brain and mental agility exercises, physical activity and social interaction—improves overall brain function and leads to rich stores of cognitive reserve.
